I started this blog a year ago, and since then, it has taken MANY forms. From snark, to music commentary, to food threaded in and out. Twelve months later, I’m proud to say that I’ve finally found my focus. Simply. Good. Food. I’ve been cooking for years, ever since my parents would leave me home alone on Friday nights and I’d pocket their “food money” and hit up the pantry. It was so freeing: to have an entire kitchen to myself! Mistakes were made. Evidence was disposed of. But it wasn’t long before I began to see success in the kitchen. You’ll find a variety of cuisines here: Indian, South East Asian, Latin, Mediterranean, and many more. I guess I attribute this to literally traveling all over the world. I was fortunate to have parents who loved travel and hated winters in our small Midwestern town. My breaks from school were spent going to places like Tanzania and Singapore, Italy, and Spain, Portugal, and Scotland. The first time I ever had Thai food was in Thailand. The best Thai food I’ve ever eaten was incidentally in Paris. Food is everywhere, and I realized, very young, that some of the best food can come for places you’ve never been to. Case in point: Burmese food. (I’m still hoping to go to Burma one day).

I’m not professionally trained, but I believe that the greatest educators go by the name of “trial” and “error”.  Recently, I started catering parties for my friends, and I couldn’t have learned more from it. In just about a year, I’ve written over 50 original recipes, and I’m not slowing down any time soon. I’m lucky to have supportive family and friends, many of whom have tried, tasted, and “approved” of my food. Hopefully you’ll find something you like here, or simply get inspired. After-all, that’s what it’s all about!
